Rookies Coach Pitch Softball is a beginner level division for girls, ages 6-8. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game. Boys are not permitted to play softball.

The Rookies Coach Pitch Softball program is the next step after Tee Ball where girls will learn the skills of the game, while having fun and staying active.

Each Little Leaguer is required to play one season of Tee Ball before being eligible to advance to Rookies Coach Pitch Softball. Players that have not played Tee Ball but want to register for Rookies should contact the MALL board to discuss before registering.

Rookies Coach Pitch Softball players use bats and baseballs designated specifically for use in this division. The roster size for a Rookies team averages 10-12 players depending on parent involvement in coaching, with a season featuring 1-2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week played on weeknights and/or Saturdays.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this entry level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, board members and other volunteer positions within the league.
