Gear & Uniforms

Getting your player ready for the season is easy with our gear and uniform guide. Here's a breakdown of what every player needs — and what the league provides.

What the League Provides

When you register, your player will receive a league-issued jersey and baseball hat or softball visor before games begin. These are yours to keep at the end of the season.

What Families Are Responsible For

Beyond the league-issued jersey and baseball hat or softball visor, families should prepare to provide the following:

Belt and socks — In your team's colors. Your Team Manager will confirm the exact colors before games start.

Pants and cleats — For all divisions except Tee Ball, solid white or gray baseball pants and molded rubber cleats are required. Metal cleats are not permitted below Seniors. Tee Ball players may wear athletic pants (joggers or sweats are fine) and tennis shoes — no cleats required.

Athletic supporter/cup — Required for all male players in Minors division and above. Recommended for Rookies division. Strongly recommended for catchers of any gender.

Batting helmet — The league provides a few helmets for practice and game use, but many families prefer to purchase their own. All helmets must be NOCSAE-certified.

Bat — The league provides a limited number of bats for practice and game use, but many families prefer to purchase their own. See sizing guidance below.

Batting gloves — Optional, but popular for comfort and grip.

Glove — Each player must have their own fielding glove. See sizing guidance below.

Glove Sizing

Choosing the right glove size depends on your player's age, position, and division. For guidance, see:

— DICK'S Sporting Goods Baseball Glove Buying Guide
— DICK'S Sporting Goods Softball Glove Buying Guide

Bat Sizing

Choosing the right bat size depends on your player's height, weight, and division. For guidance, see:

— DICK'S Sporting Goods Baseball Bat Buying Guide
— DICK'S Sporting Goods Softball Bat Buying Guide

Regardless of size, all bats must conform to current Little League standards before being used in games. See Little League Bat Information for the approved bat list.

Catcher's Gear

Players assigned as catcher are required to wear a full protective set:

— Helmet with face mask and throat guard
— Chest protector
— Leg guards
— Athletic cup

MALL provides catcher's gear (except athletic cups) for both practices and games, so no personal set is required. However, players who are serious about the position often invest in their own gear for the best fit and comfort.

Softball-Specific Notes

Softball players follow the same uniform and equipment standards as baseball with a couple of differences:

— Fielding gloves should be sized for a softball, not a baseball — see the sizing guide above
— Batting helmets with a face guard are required for all softball divisions
— Cleats follow the same rules — molded rubber only; no metal

A Note on Used Gear

Buying used equipment is a great way to save money, especially for younger players who grow quickly. Just make sure any secondhand helmet has not sustained a significant impact and still meets current NOCSAE certification standards. When in doubt, buy new.

Where to Shop

Local options for purchasing gear include our sponsor DICK'S Sporting Goods, as well as Big 5 Sporting Goods and Cascade Athletic Supply, both serving the Medford area.
